2008 Corvette Powertrain

Powertrain Lineup 6.2L V8 (6162 cc) rpm (SAE certified) rpm w/ optional exhaust (SAE certified) Hydra-Matic 6L80 six speed automatic Tremec six-speed manual (w/two optional gear ratios)

Powertrain Engine Improvements – Piston / Rods Larger flat top piston 10.7:1 compression ratio Addition of 4 drilled piston oil drainback holes and higher oil control ring tension to improve the high speed operation at higher performance Piston profile and pin bore optimization for NVH Tapered pin ID for mass reduction Rod bolt joint enhancements include new 12.9 grade rod bolts - similar material as LS7

Powertrain Engine Improvements – Valvetrain Valvetrain Intake valve diameter increased to 55 mm vs. LS mm Hollow intake valve for mass reduction to maintain high speed operation and the 6600 rpm redline New inlet rocker arm offset by 6mm between valve tip and rocker bolt/ pushrod to enable an improved airflow path Gen III/IV conventional rocker arm High flow head offset inlet rocker arm

LS2 vs. LS3* Power and Torque *SAE Certified

Powertrain Transmission – Hydra-Matic 6L80 Six speed, rear mount, automatic transmission Driver shift control Clutch-to-clutch The LS3 with the 6-speed paddle shift automatic is the fastest automatic Corvette ever with 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds.

Powertrain Transmission – Tremec six speed manual MM6MZ6 First Second Third Fourth1.00 Fifth Sixth Reverse

Powertrain Engine Improvements – Results Increased power 1/4 mile: 117 mph 114mph
