Presentation transcript:

Database Definition: A collection of verified information that is organized so that you can easily search and find the information you want. NOT A WEBSITE!

Search Engine Definition: a website that searches the Internet for information that contains a key word, phrase, or subject that you type into the search box

Different Types of Databases 1.Magazine database 2.Encyclopedia database 3.History database 4.Science database

What can I use a database for? Find information about a topic you need to learn more about for school or a topic you are interested in for fun. Find information that your library or the Internet might not have

What are some benefits of using a database instead of a search engine? The information is safe. You do not have to worry if it is accurate or not because all of the material is checked before it is put in the database to make sure it comes from a reliable source. Easier to search than the Internet. An Internet search engine searches the whole Internet. An Internet search can give you too much information and it might not be specific enough.
