 Live in United States, Canada, Alaska  Can be found in open meadows, rivers, valleys

 Largest bear in North America  700 pounds  are creamy yellow, nearly black, flicked grey, or blue grey with thick fur  Can stand 11 feet tall

 Have great hearing and smell to help them hunt  Sharp teeth and claws for hunting  Hibernates in cold months when food is scarce

 Is on the top of food chain  Has no predators other than humans  Eats roots, plants, berries, sheep, salmon, caribou, grasses, insects, mice, squirrels, elk

 Very good fishermen  Can take a few steps on hind legs  Can run 40 miles an hour for short distances  Eight species  1 to 4 cubs
