Career Development

What is career development? Career development is the lifelong process of managing your learning and work in order to build a preferred vision of your future.

Goals Students will develop: the capacity to envision the future in a positive way the ability to see alternatives in the labour market knowledge of skills & abilities and a sense of purpose and direction a plan to start to get there

High Five Messages Change is Constant Follow your Heart Focus on the Journey Keep Learning Access your Allies Believe in Yourself What does this mean to you? What are the risks/challenges of this message? What skills/attitudes will help? How might you act on this message in your life?

Four Critical Questions in terms of Career Development # 1 What would I absolutely love to do every day? What is my passion? What are my strengths and abilities? # 2 Is this a realistic possibility? Have I researched this well enough? #3 Where can I obtain additional training? How long will it take? Where will I have to go? How much will it cost? What are the demands of this program? Did I research this program well enough?
