Financial status Jeffrey works at a factory. He makes $28/Hour. He works 5 days a week, 12 hours a day. Jeffrey brings in $6720 a month.

Monthly expenses Housing- $800 Electricity- $100 Phone bill- Home phone: $19.95, Cell phone: $80 Water/Garbage- $80 Other utilities- $160 Car- $180 Home owners insurance- $400 Total amount of money per month= $2060

Illness The mother is pregnant and 4 months into her pregnancy she has an ultrasound that shows that the baby's heart is missing one of the four chambers and they will have to have a surgery as soon as the baby is born.

Treatment details and cost Ultrasound every month after 4 months- $1,200 2 week hospital stay- $40,000 Open heart surgery- $65,000 Cost of medication- $11.83 Total cost for treatment- $106,211.83

How much will insurance pay Insurance will pay- $84,968 So the family will have to pay- $21,243+the 2,500 they must pay per year. So they owe $23,743.
