Taylor Dampers Protect Wood Frame Structures from Earthquakes Reduce shaking by 2/3. Install easily inside studding Adds around 1% to the total cost of a new house if nothing else changes. Possible overall cost savings with optimum design! Retrofit for $6 to $8 per square foot. Cosmetic damage only after a major earthquake.

Why Customers Want Dampers Earthquake insurance premiums are skyrocketing. Deductibles are $60,00 to $100,000 or more, so protection is diluted. Insurance doesn’t cover a great deal of the non-structural loss. Retrofit with dampers provides an attractive alternate to earthquake insurance. People want safety, provided it is affordable.

Experimental Results MCEER Earthquake Research Center, State University of New York We have recently completed experimental tests using a toggle-braced damper configuration. A preliminary review of the data indicates that, for strong earthquake loading, the walls that were retrofitted with dampers experienced about 1/3 the displacement demand of conventional walls, the conventional walls being near collapse and the damped walls having minor damage.

Toggle Brace Used for the Tests

Toggle Brace Installed

How We Work With You Arrange for structural engineering review. Provide toggle brace dampers as required to the job site. Available from stock. Supervise initial installation and train your people to install. Inspect after installation.

The Bottom Line You can charge more for structures with built- in earthquake protection. You can significantly increase your profit by offering dampers as an option. You will have a competitive edge.
