ACADEMIC SUCCESS  DO NOT STRESS OVER ACADEMIC SUCCESS  JUST FOLLOW MY LEAD AND YOU WILL SUCCEED.  BUT IN ORDER TO SUCCEED, IN YOURSELF, YOU MUST BELIEVE

MY PURPOSE  HELP YOU DEVELOP TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS  HELP YOU DEVELOP ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS  HELP YOU TO IMPROVE YOUR STUDY SKILLS

Ten Tips on Time ManagemenT 1. DEVELOP BLOCKS OF STUDY TIME BY DETERMINING THE FOLLOWING:  WHEN YOU GET HOME, HOW SOON DO YOU STUDY?  HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO STUDY?  HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO BECOME TIRED?  HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED A BREAK?

Ten Tips on Time ManagemenT 2. KEEP A DAILY/WEEKLY PLANNER  View your AGENDA BOOK daily  View your SYLLABUS daily/weekly

Ten Tips on Time ManagemenT 3. Prioritize Your Assignments 4. Write Out Questions  If you do not understand something, mark it, then ask your teacher about it.  Answer all questions to the best of your knowledge, then address your concerns to your teacher.  When working on assignments, start with the hardest subject, then move on to the easy subject.

5. Use Your Time Wisely (Every Second Counts)  Work on easy assignments while riding home.  Read a book while riding with family, or friends.  Think about important points while walking home.

Ten Tips on Time ManagemenT 6. Take Great Notes  Write down the date of lecture.  Save time by avoiding to write everything the teacher says.  Write down main ideas, or important facts, then highlight or underline it. Take Great Notes  Use phrases, symbols, and abbreviations that you will remember and understand.  Comprehend the reading in the chapters, or reading assignments given by teacher.  Pay close attention to important facts and highlight.

7. Study Time for Test  Determine your best time to study.  Start studying days in advance.  Review and relax the night before the test.  Wake up a couple minutes early on test day to review.

Ten Tips on Time ManagemenT 8. Eat Healthy  Take time to eat healthy food.  Eat more brain food such as protein enriched products: fish, chicken, nuts, dairy products. 9. Allow Breaks  Take no more than 15 minutes between assignments.  Take time to stretch.  Do light activity work to get energy flowing and pumping.

10. Relax and Have Fun  Set up time to rest (IT’S OK!)  Set up time to hang out with friends after a long week of studying.  Set up time to reward yourself for your success and achievements.

Final Tips  Be organized  Be prepared  Be resourceful

1. Be Organized  Prioritize your task (set time to complete task from the earliest due date to the final due date.)  Get in the habit of using a “to-do” list.  Organize your notebook according to your subjects.  Continue to use your AGENDA BOOK daily.

2. Be Prepared  Make sure you have all of your study materials in front of you. (lecture notes, textbooks, sharpened pencils, high- lighters, etc.)

3. Be Resourceful  Maintain a clutter-free environment.  Sit at your desk at home. (avoid working on your bed.)  Find a place with good lighting.  Go to the library.

Good Luck Class of 2012
