The British Isles The British Isles consist of: - two large islands – Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) and Ireland (The Irish Republic, Northern Ireland) and more than 5000 smaller islands

The United Kingdom “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” consist of: The UK is a union of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Crown dependencies (the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) are largely self-governing with the UK responsible for their defence and international relations and are not part of the United Kingdom.

Saint George Saint George and Dragon According to the Golden Legend, there lived a dragon in Sillene (Lybia) that poisoned all the countryside. People had to give it two sheep everyday. When it was not enough, they had to give it their child. One day, it was the king´s daughter. Saint Geogre kill the dragon – all people converted to Christianity.
