Words Words are an extremely important part of language. The more words we know, the more feelings and ideas we can express. Q: What do you learn first as you study another language? Words!

Activity A: Please select which word you would use 1. I want a bottle of soda. I want a bottle of pop. 2. Put it in a bag. Put it in a sack. In a language, different words can express the same meanings. Your examples?

Word: One of most important parts of language. The most elementary unit of meaning Simplest thing of a language that conveys meaning Rich language: A language is considered a rich language if it has many vocabulary. For example: English: about 500,000 words. Rich language have a large number of words to express almost the same concept. For example: beautiful, gorgeous, pretty, nice, handsome, comely

Activity: Please give a list of words that mean that same thing (at least 5). And please identify words you actually use and words that you do not use often but recognize. Examples: angry mad annoyed irate furious enraged incensed happy glad pleased delighted joyous joyful merry cheerful blithe

How do the words come from in a language? Making word: making new words by putting several words together.
