English 10C Poetry Presentation Guide For this project you will be researching, interpreting, and presenting a poem through the effective use of the PowerPoint program.

Poetry Reading Strategy Read the poem for pleasure; only think of images you see. Ask yourself, “What did I see? What ideas have come to mind? What is the tone? List what ideas and images seen on a piece of scrap paper or along the margins of the poem. What is the LITERAL meaning? Re-read the poem. This time look for examples of FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE (simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, symbol, etc.) Interpret the meaning of the figurative language found; think of how it adds to the whole meaning of the poem. Read the poem again…Ask yourself what you think the main idea or message is…or what you think the speaker is saying to the reader.

Oh, I marked the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
