Preparing for Christmas also means trimming the tree while we decorate the tree with Christmas ornaments and lights. The last step is to put on the tree top and put the presents under the tree. Other typical things at Christmas for example: bauble, garland, bell, sparkler and mistletoe. People send Christmas cards each other and spend their time usually together with their family. Christmas in Hungary is even one of the biggest celebrations but people celebrate it all over the world. At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of man. Traditionally people eat special foods and almost everybody decorates their own Christmas Tree. According to the ancient traditions on the 24th of December people don't eat meat just apple, nuts, honey, garlic, fish or fasting bean soup. There are some typical foods for Christmas these are for example: stuffed cabbage, different cakes from poppy seed, gingerbread, fish soup, fried fish, meat jelly, meringue.
