12/23/20151 Competition Information Packet

12/23/ Goals of the Challenge The 2on2 Challenge was designed to create a skills competition that enhances the most universal and important fundamentals in baseball – Batting and Fielding. The 2on2 Challenge is an avenue for players learn the importance of: Being aggressive at the plate and in the field Positioning themselves in the field Communication with teammates Hitting the ball with power Fielding techniques Most importantly, the 2on2 Challenge emphasizes the need to develop a positive competitive attitude.

12/23/ How does it work? Each team with the highest score will advance through the 2on2 Challenge one game at a time. (1 game = 1 inning. ) Players will receive 15 pitches each inning. Teams will have 30 pitches to score with (hit) and thirty pitches to defend (field) Each hitter must designate which side of the field they will be hitting to. Points are given based on the location a ball stops after being hit. Points are negated by the defenses ability to field hit balls. Point Breakdown is as follows: (see diagram on following slide) Important Notes: The player only receives 15 pitches. If they take a pitch they have lost an opportunity to score! There will be one bonus ball per 15 pitches. This different colored ball will be the last ball pitched, and any points earned will be doubled. The 2on2 Challenge is open to boys and girls from 8 thru Adult. Baseball and Softball competitions are held.
