The history of the Abbey Sligo Abbey, is a ruined abbey in Sligo It was originally built by order of Maurice Fitzgerald It was destroyed in 1414 by a fire ravaged during the nine years war It was destroyed again in the Ulster Uprising The friars moved out in the 18 th century but Lord Palmerston restored it in the 1850s
