Interview Questions

Can you tell me a little about yourself? Designed to cover four aspects  Early years  Education  Work history  Recent career experience Keep your answers brief, one to two minutes

What are five adjectives that describe you?  The purpose of this question is to see how well the candidate knows themselves.  You should develop a list of qualities a head of time. Identify 6 that relate most to the role for which you are interviewing.  If you bring in an adjective that has no bearing on the role, the employer will wonder why you are bringing it up?

What is your greatest weakness?  Turn a weakness into a positive  Describe a weakness that you took steps to correct

What can you do for the company?  Talk about getting things done  Career accomplishments, or how your Sports/Club accomplishments relate  Mention your ability to set priorities  Mention your ability to identify a problem and use problem solving skills to resolve Be enthusiastic, and honest

 Looking to see how you can handle new situations  Show you handled a challenge and over came it  Not wise to mention your slow to “catch on”, or didn’t have any challenges What do you see as the biggest challenge in this role during the first six months?

Why did you leave your last job? Be careful! It’s a big turnoff to criticize your last employer Phrase your reply so that you do not sound negative Highlight your position as a part of your career path

 Focus on a challenge  Give 3 or 4 specific steps or actions to solve the challenge  Highlight: strength of character, resourcefulness, perseverance follow through  Indicate the result of the actions  Provide a positive outcome What is the most significant challenge you have faced in the last year?

Tell about a decision that you made that you feel good about? Interviewer is analyzing how you make decisions  Logical understandable approach  Random decision maker What do your decisions indicate about your values?

Do you have any questions? Have 3-5 questions prepared  What is your timeline for hiring a candidate for this position?  What are the responsibilities of an employee in the department that I am being considered?  Describe a typical day for an intern within your company
