Doers of the Word  James 1:22 – “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”  Romans 2:13 – “for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified”

Doers of the Word  James 1:22-27 – “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only”  (26) “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless”  (27) “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Doers of the Word  Laying Aside  Putting On

Doers of the Word – Laying Aside  James 1:26 -  “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless”

Doers of the Word – Laying Aside  James 1:19-22 –  “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Doers of the Word – Laying Aside  Galatians 5:19-21 –  “envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God”

Doers of the Word – Laying Aside  I Corinthians 6:9-11 –  “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?... And such were some of you, but you were washed”

Doers of the Word – Laying Aside  Colossians 3:1-10 –  “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  James 1:27 –  “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  Colossians 3:12-17 –  “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  Galatians 5:22-25 –  “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  II Peter 1:5-11 –  “add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, to brotherly kindness love.”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  I Peter 2:11-12 – “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation”  Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  Titus 2:13-14 –  “Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  Galatians 6:7-10 – “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith”  Acts 10:38 – “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good”

Doers of the Word – Putting On  Ephesians 4:14-15 – “speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ”  I Corinthians 11:1 – “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”

Conclusion – Doers of the Word  Ephesians 4:25-32  As doers of the word,  We must be willing to lay aside  We must be willing to put on  Everything we lay aside & put on is to make us more Christ-like.
