Consensus Standards ä Mandatory Standard - enforceable by public body and potential auditing is likely by the court systems (form & style manual, 1999) ä Non-mandatory Standard (guide, guideline, or consensus guideline) -- written in permissive language and may not be suitable for adoption in codes or other regulatory documents
