CONSERVATION UNITS, RURAL SETTLEMENT, AND STATE PRODUCTION FOREST (72% OF STATE TERRITORY) I II III IV

A. FOREST INVENTORIES OF STATE PRODUCTION FOREST 1.Objectives To make the Flora, Fauna, and Socioeconomic inventories to qualify the Production Forest To allow the Forest Concession

A. FOREST INVENTORIES OF STATE PRODUCTION FOREST 2. Results: Area: 2,3 million ha Cartographic base - were grouped three typology types: High Land Forest – dense of low plateau (66.6%) High Land Forest of dense sub montana (20.6%) Transition among Savana/ High land Forest (12.8%)

A. FOREST INVENTORIES OF STATE PRODUCTION FOREST The three Forest Typologies make possible the Forest Concession to the State Forest Production

B. FOREST CARBON STOCKS – Module IV of the State Production Forest 1.Objectives: To estimate the carbon quantity sequestrate by the forest in natural condition To obtain alometric date of biomass part above and below the soil (IPCC) Laboratory analyses of the alometric samples (IPCC)

REDD PDD - CCBA (Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard) and VCS1 (Voluntary Carbon Standard) Area – 973,960 ha – PDD in the central part of the biodiversity corridor 1. Objectives: To define eligible areas for the project execution To determine baseline and sceneries with and without project To determine methodologies for carbon, biodiversity and community C. PROJECT DESIGN DOCUMENT OF THE STATE PRODUCTION FOREST – Module IV

C. FOREST CARBON STOCKS – Module IV of the State Production Forest 1. Objectives (cont.) To incorporate socioeconomic and environment aspects to the project To evaluate the financial viability To define the institutional structure to aggregate the credits To make meetings inviting all the interested parts To define the contract model and pre-according with the owners of the selected areas To apply the PDD to be validated to VCS and CCBS

D. DRAFT OF THE AMAPA CLIMATE CHANGE LAW 1. Main Objectives: To create inspection instruments To make possible REDD, CDM and other projects To determine biodiversity and emissions inventories To institute certification stamps to the public and private institutions that develop climate change projects

DRAFT OF THE AMAPA CLIMATE CHANGE LAW 1.Main objectives: To elaborate action plans to mitigate the adverse effects of climate changes To implement research projects in the Conservation Units To create new Conservation Units To institute indicators or zones which present vulnerable areas to the climate changes based on the Economic and Ecologic Zoning 2. Situation: The draft law has been juridical revised before sending to the State Representatives House

E. PLAN FOR THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF DEFORESTATION IN AMAPÁ (PPCDAP) - concluded It is a Federal Government requirement:  To participated of Amazon Fund Commission  To access the Amazon Fund 1. Main Objectives: Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions To fortify and integrate the State Systems of Forest Management To increase the competition of the forest products in the national and international markets To involve the State in the International Cooperation Mechanisms - UNFCCC,CDB

E. GOALS FOR 2010 To implement the Deforestation Plan – PPCDAP Consultant Letters to the Amazon Fund for: Infrastructure for Amapa Environmental Institutes State Production Forest Publication of 1,000 books of PPCDAP Constitution of Management Council of the PPCDAP PDD for State Production Forest concluded (module IV) Amapa Climate Change Law concluded Release of PPCDAP by the Amapa Governor in June 5 th 2010
