Instructions on how to make your foldable

Step 1: Locate the RM3 page Cut along the outer edge of the LARGE dashed lines (should be a square) Put glue ONLY on the back outer edge of the paper – NOT in the center Glue onto page 41 (right-hand side of your notebook … yes we skipped page 40) July 22, 2012Footer text here3

Step 2: Locate the RM2 page July 22, 2012Footer text here4 Cut ONLY on the dotted lines (large and small dotted lines) DO NOT cut ANY solid lines. You should end up with 4 “flaps” on your foldable to represent the different layers of the Earth.

Step 3: Go back to the page you glued into your notebook Place a THIN layer of glue on the outer edge of the triangle that is labeled “Place Glue Here” Glue your cut foldable piece directly onto the glue. Try to line it up so that it fits evenly with your bottom piece. July 22, 2012Footer text here5

Step 4: Color Code and Label your Layers Write the names of each layer on the front left side of your foldable on the line provided. Color the front of each layer LIGHTLY used the correct colors. DO NOT COLOR TOO DARK – WE WILL BE WRITING ON THE THESE PIECES! Crust – brown Lithosphere – green Asthenosphere – blue Mantle – orange Outer Core – yellow Inner Core - red Crust Lithos phere Astheno sphere Mantle Outer Core Inner Core July 22, 2012Footer text here6

Step 5: Writing Info on the FRONT of your foldable Write DARKLY on the pieces that you have colored. Draw little people/ animals on the crust Convection Currents in the mantle Write LIQUID on the Outer Core Write SOLID on the Inner Core July 22, 2012Footer text here7

Step 6: Adding The Information July 22, 2012Footer text here8 Use the PowerPoint on my website and yesterday’s reading to help you find the information for the foldable. For each layer you need to write this info on the inside: The MAIN elements on that layer How deep the layer is The temperature of the layer 1 additional fact
