Presentation transcript:

Concept  Major project will be based on the Millennium Development Goals, reasons for selecting this subject, as its my specialist and a matter that should be covered.  The Millennium Development Goals was coined during the Millennium Summit in 2000, to which all United Nation members of State pledged to achieve eight goals by 2015.

Production  As there are 8 goals, this will be my premise for the articles.  There will be a collection of articles (18), which will consist of opinion pieces, features, and traditional news story articles. There will be an introduction article, to explain the MDGs and a concluding article for analysis.  Each goal will consist of 2 articles, one will cover the third world and the second will cover the developed world, using the same goal, with two perspectives - “Absolute and Relative.” This gives an overview of domestic and international policies, questioning their impact.

Production 8 Millennium Development Goals are:  Eradicate Extreme Hunger & Poverty  Achieve Universal Primary Education.  Promote Gender Equality & Empower Women.  Reduce Child Morality.  Improve Maternal Health.  Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria & Other Diseases.  Ensure Environmental Sustainability.  Develop a Global Partnership for Development.

Production  Eradicate Extreme Hunger & Poverty: TW - Microfinancing: small credit to people living on $1.25 a day, providing economic opportunities, to financially excluded 2.5 billion adults. DW - Hunger in Britain: 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK, and government are fairly slow to react.  Promote Gender Equality & Empower Women: TW - On 28th November 2012, the UN approves a worldwide ban on the practice of Female Genital Mutilation. What's happened since? DW - Islamic veil ban, enforcing empowerment? France to be the first Western European country to ban full face veils. There are 5 million Muslims in France and only 2,000 who wear full veils.

Audience  Audience – ideally I want this product to be accessible to people who are keen in national and international politics, and to people who are naturally deterred by writing style and its vastness, though would like to retain this type of information.

Platform  Medium is a blogging site created by the two founders of Twitter. “A new place on the Internet where people share ideas and stories that are longer than 140 characters and not just for friends."  Medium is designed to share ideas to the right audience, by using content management system.  Using Twitter to build a network and as a news gathering tool.
