In motion Little English School, Vicenza

As a first step children analysed the “tricks” to represent movement used by Italian Futurists (like Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini and Umberto Boccioni).

Moving cars

Moving trees

We then looked at real movement in art work, like Calder’s mobiles. First children experienced balancing, working in pairs in a special laboratory.

Later they elaborated their experience projecting and creating their personal mobile.

After this, they had the chance to experiment collective class work: always following Calder’s example, children created a big fish.
