Reflection by Dana V. Novel By Gary Paulsen, 1987

Hatchet is a novel written by Gary Paulsen, the story takes place in the Canadian Rockies. Brian Roberson parents are divorced and he is going to spend time with his father, who works in an oil field. The pilot of the small plane gets chest pains and dies of a heart attack. The boy,who Is thirteen years, had just been shown how to operate the plane’s controls. The Pilot told him that everything was easy. Brian became terrified when the pilot died. The plan lost control, Brian knew that he had to do something, so he grabbed the controls and slowly got control and when the plane was running out of fuel he decided to land in the lake. After the plane crashed in the lake, brain realized that he was hurt and alone. It took Him a few days to learn that he had to take care of himself. He started to use the little hatched his mother had given him as a present. He saw a lot of different wild animals, but they did not bother him. He learned to build a fire using the hatchet. After a big tornado, he could see the plane in the lake, he got the survival kit, the pilot had shown him. There was a flair, food, a rifle and a rescue beeper in the kit. Another pilot heard the signal when Brian turned It on. Brian was rescued after forty-four days in the wilderness.
