Direct Objects (DO) & Direct Object Pronouns (DOP)

What we did was use a direct object pronoun to remove the redundancy of the paragraph and make it flow. A direct object pronoun replaces a direct object.

HUH? Was that even English? What the garbage is a DIRECT OBJECT (DO) let alone a DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN (DOP)?

A direct object (DO) ________ ________ the action of the verb. directly receives  I looked at the _________. cookies  The cookies received the action...I looked at them.  I bought _________. the cookies  The cookies received the action...I bought them.  I ate the _________. cookies  The cookies received the action...I looked at them.

A DO answers the question ______ or ______ is impacted by the action. whowhat A DO is _____the subject of the sentence.  A Subject ________ the action. En français: _____________  A DO ________ the action. En français: _____________ NOT DOES un sujet RECEIVES un objet direct

Soulignez l’objet direct, SVP. Entourez le sujet, SVP. She did not answer her cell phone when it rang. The chocolate that Schepeez bought from her was good When Mr. Alm called Schepeez, he was angry.

So, we know what a DO is now, right? Let’s talk about DOPs... A DOP _______ the DO because it is a _______. ________ replace nouns.  En français- Un _______ de l’______ ________ Here are the DOPs in English: replaces pronoun Pronouns me you him/her us y’all them pronom objet direct

Le sujet> ________ the action. L’objet direct (DO) > ________ the action. Le pronom de l’objet direct (DOP)> ________ the DO. does receives replaces

In French, we will also use DOPs to improve our writing (just like in English). Les DOPs en anglais me you him/her us y’all them me te le/la nous vous les > Les DOPs en français

~Le Rock des DOPS!~ DOP, DOP, DOP Rock DOPs ‘round the clock! That’s the DOP… That’s the DOP Rock! me te le/la nous vous les

So, we know what the DOPs are for and what they look like, right? A DOP ________ a DO which ________ ________ the action. replaces directly receives me te le/la nous vous les Well, how do we use them?

First, we must decide which DOP we need~ Well, how do we use DOPs? (who/what is receiving the action?) me te le/la nous vous les

then we need to put it in the sentence where it belongs. Well, how do we use DOPs? A DOP always goes in front of the ________ that affects it.  It can go in front of a ____________ ________.  It can go in front of an ________ (if there is one). verb conjugated verb infinitive

Well, how do we use DOPs? A DOP must ________ with the DO that it replaces.  Masculine or Feminine  Singular or Plural agree

The Subject is _______. The DO is_______. The DOP is_______. ~Modèles~ Je _______ mange. Je mange la pomme. Je vais manger la pomme Well, how do we use DOPs? je la pomme la la The Subject is _______. The DO is_______. The DOP is_______. je la pomme la Je vais _______ manger. la

The Subject is _______. The DO is_______. The DOP is_______. ~Modèles~ Tu _______ aimes. Tu aimes les bonbons. Tu veux manger les bonbons Well, how do we use DOPs? tu les bonbons les les The Subject is _______. The DO is_______. The DOP is_______. tu les bonbons les Tu veux_______ manger. les
