The Main Idea The most important concept is, the signs of clinical depression.

Details, examples and how it relates to the class? The top three signs of clinical depression are change in appetite, change in sleep patterns, and change in activity level. A person who is overwhelmed by sad feelings for months and stops being able to carry out everyday activities is suffering from a mental disorder known as clinical depression. clinical depression can be caused by stressors, or it can be a symptom of another disease, such as alcoholism.

(story from book) story  Ever since Jason’s girlfriend broke up with him, he has felt sad and hopeless. Jason used to love playing drums in the school band, but now he has quit. He can not sleep and feels tired all the time. His grades have dropped from a B average to a D average.

How to get help! (key point) Anyone who shows signs clinical depression should seek help from a parent, teacher, guidance counselor, physician, or mental health professional.
