Lesson 4: Equivalent Fractions  Date:  Objective: SWBAT find equivalent fractions and compare fractions  Do Now:  DON”T DO THE OPENING. NEED TO ADJUST THIS LESSON.

Lesson  See page 5 of your Student Book for instructions for today’s task.  Use pages 6-8 to show your work.

Check  Check your answers using the Fractions Number Lines sheet on page 63 of the Student Book. Also check your answers by converting all the fractions to decimals with a calculator.  Remember, for example, 2/3 = 2÷3  Write all fractions in decimal form. Which fractions have the same decimal form?

Exit Ticket  1. Write a complete sentence, explaining what “equivalent” means.  2. Give an example of a fraction that is equivalent to ½.  3. In a complete sentence, explain how do you know they are equivalent?

Exit Ticket  2. Compare  4.In two sentences, talk about two fractions that gave you the same dollar amount. Explain why this happened.

Exit Ticket #2  4. I have two fractions hiding behind my back. The denominator of one is 4 and the denominator of the other is 3.
