Florida Panther The Florida Panther is the state animal. The panther is a type of cougar and there are only about left. The main problem is loss of habitat. They eat white tail deer, wild hogs, rabbits, armadillos, and birds. They live mainly in swamp forests and pinelands so you wont find many panthers because they don’t like to be around humans.

Florida Manatee The Manatee is Florida's official state marine mammal. It is nonaggressive and it is one of the most endangered species in America, with only about 1900 left. They are gray or brown in color and grow as large as 13 feet long weighing more than 3,000 pounds! They are herbivores and eat mostly grass. They live in fresh and salt water and mostly found in slow moving rivers.

Mockingbird The northern mocking bird is the Florida state bird. The mockingbird is able to mimic other birds. Mocking birds are medium sized birds with slender bodies and a very long tail. They eat snails, spiders, beetles, grass hoppers, berries, and worms.

Loggerhead Turtle Loggerhead turtles can be anywhere from 200 to 350 pounds, and reach about 3 feet in length. They primarily feed on bottom dwelling invertebrates. 91% of loggerhead turtles nest on Florida coasts and Florida beaches account for one third of the worlds loggerhead population. In 1978 this turtle was listed as a threatened species and the population has been declining since.
