4. An adult nutria is about 14 inches long from the nose to the base of the tail. The tail is about12 to 17 inches long it is round, and hairless. The whiskers are about 4 inches long. They have 20 teeth, and include 4 large incisors that allows the nutria to cut off underwater plants without getting water into its mouth. Nutria average weight is 16 to 18 pounds. There front feet have five toes the hind feet are much larger. All of the toes are connected by a skin web except for the little toe.
