BIBFLOW: Collaboration with NLM, George Washington University, and Zepheira Xiaoli Li UC Davis June 25, /25/2015UC Systemwide Implication of Linked Data Workshop1

Why? BIBFLOW team was were interested in NLM’s modular approach to BIBFRAME which NLM has been working with Jackie Shieh (George Washington University). Both NLM and UCD work closely with Zepheira. It was nature for us to explore the areas for partnership. NLM experimentation timeline fits well with BIBFLOW’s development schedule. 6/25/2015UC Systemwide Implication of Linked Data Workshop2

Areas of Collaboration Developing a core, widely shareable BIBFRAME vocabulary (a.k.a, “BIBFRAME Lite”) that could be extended for greater granularity with existing descriptive schema. Mapping PCC BIBCO Standard Record Metadata Application Profile and CONSER Standard Record to BIBFRAME Lite and RDA/RDF vocabulary. Designing cataloging interfaces which will use RDA terms as their label for each BIBFRAME statement. 6/25/2015UC Systemwide Implication of Linked Data Workshop3

Mapping BSR Core to BIBFRAME Lite and RDA/RDF Vocabulary Completed the mapping for print monographs. The spreadsheet and mock-ups have posted on NLM’s Github site: 6/25/2015UC Systemwide Implication of Linked Data Workshop8
