The Yukon Territory By: Brennan Shiffler

Location And Size The Yukon territory is located in upper Canada and is right in the middle of Alaska and Northwest Terrritory. The Yukon territory is about 483,450 square kilometers (186,660 square miles) and 5,451 meters(19,537 feet) above sea level.

The population and major cities There are about 28,674 people living in the Yukon Territory. Only about 6% of the population live past sixty-five years old. The three major cities are White Horse, Dawson City, And Watson Lake. There populations are 22,131 people, 1,818 people, and 1,555 people.

Places to go and Languages The main place to go in the Yukon territory is Miles Canyon in White Horse. The main languages spoken in The Yukon Territory is French and English. About 86.2% of the people spoke English while only about 3.1% spoke French.

Industries and The Economy In the Yukon Territory gold mining is one of the best money making way for the Yukon along with raw materials like wood, printing, and chemical products. The Yukon Economy is very good for being so small. It is up 1.25 billion dollars which is about 1% of canadas economy.

The Yukon’s Climate The Yukon's Climate is very cold and flat and rocky in some places. In the summer time it is an average 77 degrees but in the winter it is about only 39 to -58 degrees out.

CURRENCY The currency used is the Canadian Dollar (CAD), which is divided into 100 cents. One-dollar coins are also known as loonies (due to the picture of a loon, a type of bird, on the coin), and two-dollar coins as toonies.
