Sensation n The process of receiving information from the environment.

Perception n Assembling and organizing sensory information to make it meaningful.

Stimulus n A change in the environment. n It can be measured! (size,duration,intensity)

Psychophysics Psychophysics n Develop a quantified relationship between stimuli from the world, and the sensory experiences produced by them.

Absolute Threshold n The smallest amount of energy that will produce a sensation.

Taste n 1 teaspoon of sugar in two gallons of water.

Sight n 1 candle from 30 miles.

Touch n A bee wing dropped on an individuals cheek from a distance of 1/2 inch.

Hearing n The tick of a watch from a distance of 20 feet.

Smell n 1 drop of perfume diffused into a three room apartment.
