Properties of Objects A Quiz

What is an observation?

An observation is the use of your 5 senses to view the world around you.

Give an example of each of the 5 senses: Hear See Touch Taste Smell

You can hear a dog bark. You can see a man running. You may touch a hot plate. You may taste a salty pretzel. You can smell flowers.

Which measurement system uses inches and ounces as units?

The customary, or English, system uses inches or ounces as units of measurement.

Which measurement system do scientists use? Some of its units include the meter, gram, and liter.

Scientists use the metric system which includes grams, meters, and liters.

Which instrument measures mass or weight?

A balance or scale can be used to measure weight or mass.

What instrument do scientists use to measure liquids?

Scientists use a graduated cylinder to measure liquid.

A thermometer is used to measure what?

A thermometer measures temperature.

What are some possible characteristics to use when you classify objects?

You can classify objects by size, shape, color, uses, and ways of moving.

What is a physical change?

A physical change takes place when a substance changes in size, shape, or form.

Give an example of a physical change.

Melting or tearing is an example of a physical change.

What are the 3 forms of matter?

The three forms of matter are: solid, liquid, and gas.

In which of the 3 forms of matter are the particles the closest?

The particles of a solid are packed the closest together and are arranged in straight rows.
