You Don't Have to be Baptized...
Presentation transcript:

Luke 3:21-23 “When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, ‘You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.’ Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli” (NKJV).

Luke 3:21-23 “His ministry” at the age of thirty (NKJV, cf. RSV, NASB, NIV) “Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age” (KJV, cf. YLT, GLT) “When he began to teach, was about thirty” (ASV)

The Ministry of Jesus Ministry is Service Jesus served mankind before coming to earth (John 1:3; 1 Cor. 10:4). Jesus continues to serve mankind after returning to heaven (Heb. 8:6).

The Ministry of Jesus I. Jesus’ Ministry was Relatively Short. A. We believe it spanned only three years (John 2:13; 6:4; 11:55). B. Yet, He made a remarkable impact on the world (Acts 28:22; 17:6). C. How much time have you had? What impact have you made? (Matt. 5:13-16; Eph. 5:15- 16).

The Ministry of Jesus II. Jesus’ Ministry was Balanced. A. He was busy but found time for prayer and meditation (Matt. 4:23; 14:22-23). B.We must be diligent in our work (Col. 3:23). 1. But must not neglect our responsibility to God (Matt. 6:31-33). 2. Or our families (Eph. 6:4; 1 Pet. 4:7; Titus 2:4; Eph. 5:33).

The Ministry of Jesus III. Jesus’ Ministry was Consistent. A. He was consistent wherever He was or with whomever He found Himself (Heb. 4:14-15). B.Christ lives in Christians (Gal. 2:20). 1. We must be consistent (1 Pet. 2:11-12). 2. Don’t be one way at home and another at church. 3. Don’t act right with Christians and sinful with friends.

The Ministry of Jesus IV. Jesus’ Ministry was Focused. A.His life pointed toward the purpose of His coming to earth (John 12:27). 1. Life could not distract Him (Luke 9:51-53). B.We must live focused on heaven. 1. It is the reason we are here (Acts 17:27). 2. We must not become distracted (Col. 3:1-4).
