Presentation transcript:

The BGSU Psychology Department uses the SONA system for scheduling research participation.

Here’s what the login screen looks like for the SONA research scheduler.

Students who want to participate in research for class credit need to request an account during the first week of classes.

If the system says you’re already registered, retrieve your password.

Your password will be ed to you (it’s different from your BGSU password). After you receive your Sona Research Scheduler password enter your... BGSU ID and your Sona Research Scheduler password, (NOT your BGSU password).

The first time you log in, you’ll be prompted to select the course or courses to which you research participation credits will apply. Your class will appear on this list only if your instructor has notified the system administrator that your class will participate in the research participant pool this term. If your class has a large lecture with multiple discussion sections, the discussion sections (not the lecture) will be listed.

See the current list of studies that you can sign up for. See your accumulated credits. Change your password or other settings. Get answers to your questions.

When you select “Study Sign-up”... The list of studies will look something like this. Some studies involve going to a laboratory or classroom. Others are done online. To sign up for a particular study, click the name of a study.

When you select “My Schedule and Credits,” you’ll see something like this... Most students can get credit for just one course. But if you’ve selected more that one course (that offers research credit), you can use the “reassign” buttons to reassign credit from one course to another.

Awarding of Credit For most studies, the researcher must assign credit manually, after you finish participating in a session. Please allow approximately three days for the credit to appear in your account. Participation Deadline You must complete your research participation by Monday night of the last week of classes. Otherwise the researchers may not have enough time to award your credits.
