SEVENS IN REVELATION 8. Angels who stand before God 9. Trumpets

The 7th seal is opened 1 - Ushers in the second set of God’s judgments against sinful mankind 2 - Note the recurrence of “one-third” 3 – Jesus (the Lamb) personally opened the seven seals but angels blow the seven trumpets 4 - Most follow a pattern of: trumpet blast - action - result

The sequence of events 1 - Silence in heaven for a half hour 2 – Seven angels given 7 Trumpets 3 – Another angel appears with a gold incense burner and stands at the altar before the throne of God 4 – Mixes incense with the prayers of God’s people

5 – Prayers ascend upward to God after angel pours them out 6 – Angel fills incense burner with coals from the altar 7 – The incense burner is thrown down to the earth causing thunder and lightning and an earthquake 8 – The angels prepare to sound the 7 trumpets

Action: Hail and fire mixed with blood thrown down to the earth Angel #1 sounds First Trumpet Results: 1/3 of earth set on fire,1/3 of trees burned, all the green grass burned up

Action: Mountain of fire thrown into the sea Angel #2 sounds Second Trumpet Results: 1/3 of water turned to blood, 1/3 of all sea life died, 1/3 of ships destroyed

Action: Burning star (named Bitterness) falls to the earth Angel #3 sounds Third Trumpet Results: 1/3 of water became bitter and many people die from drinking the bitter water

Action: No specific actions noted as in other three cases Angel #4 sounds Fourth Trumpet Results: 1/3 of sun and moon darkened, 1/3 of stars burn out, 1/3 of day and 1/3 of night without light

The sequence of events continued 9 – An eagle flies through the air calling out “Woe, woe, woe…”
