Lesson 1

2. Review Purpose: Rev.1:1 To show His servants what must soon take place
Segments: Rev. 1:19 The things which you have seen, the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things
God to Jesus to His angel to John to churches (1:1)
Revelation: Book of prophecy with promise of blessing to those who read, hear and heed.
Rev. 1 – Things John saw
Rev. 2-3 – Things which are
Rev – Things which shall take place AFTER these things

3. Revelation 5 Setting: God’s throne IN HEAVEN
No one is worthy to open the scroll with the 7 seals EXCEPT the Lion of Judah, the Root of David, the Lamb of God
He is worshipped for what He has done: He was slain, purchased people for God with His blood and made them a kingdom and priests to God
“To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”

4. Revelation 6
1st seal: White horse with a rider, holding a bow and a crown was given to him; he goes out to conquer.
2nd seal: Red horse with a rider, takes peace from the earth, wars, given a large sword
3rd seal: Black horse with a rider, has scales to weigh wheat and barley, brings famine, but oil and wine not permitted to be harmed.
4th seal: Ashen horse with a rider who is Death, and Hades follows. Authority is given to kill ¼ of people on earth by sword, famine, plague and wild beasts.

5. Revelation 6
5th seal: Souls under the altar cry out for their blood to be avenged. They are told to wait, more to come, and given a white robe.
6th seal: Great earthquake, sun becomes black, moon like blood, stars fall to the earth, sky rolls back like a scroll, every island and mountain removed from its place, men hide in caves and rocks but cannot die
Man says: Great day of wrath has come

6. Revelation 7 Vs. 1-8 The wind is stopped on earth
Four angels told not to harm the earth UNTIL the servants of God have been sealed
12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel are sealed on their foreheads 144,000
Vs Great multitude from every nation that have come out of the Great Tribulation, stand before the throne in heaven, having been washed in the Lamb’s blood
Vs. 16 They have suffered on earth
Vs. 17 Tells their condition in heaven afterwards

7. Scenes of Earth and Heaven
Chapters 2-3 Messages to the churches on earth
Chapters 4-5 In heaven, before God’s throne
Chapters 6-7:8 Things happening on earth (except for 5th seal)
Chapters 7:9-11 Back in heaven again

8. Revelation 8 7th Seal/ Trumpets Begin
7th seal: Silence in heaven for 30 minutes
This seal reveals 7 angels with 7 trumpets
Before they sound, there is another earthquake with thunder and lightning
1st Trumpet: Hail, fire with blood thrown to earth, 1/3 of earth burned up, 1/3 trees burned up, ALL the green grass burned up
2nd Trumpet: Mountain on fire, thrown into the sea: 1/3 of sea becomes blood, 1/3 of sea creatures die, 1/3 of ships destroyed

9. Revelation 8
3rd Trumpet: Wormwood, a great burning star falls from heaven to the earth. 1/3 of the rivers and springs became bitter and many died
4th Trumpet: 1/3 sun, moon and stars struck
1/3 day and night don’t shine
“Woe! Woe! Woe! To those who dwell on the earth because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound.”
Four angels have sounded. NO Woe has yet occurred.

10. Revelation 9
5th Trumpet: 1st Woe Locusts on the earth come from the bottomless pit (vs. 12)
Locusts are allowed to harm ONLY the men without the seal of God on their foreheads, the 144,000 servants of God from Israel
Locusts are allowed to torment men for 5 months, but no death on earth for this time.
Angel of the Abyss/Abaddon/Apollyon is their king (fallen angel) (bottomless pit)

11. Revelation 9
6th Trumpet: 2nd Woe: 1/3 of mankind is killed by fire, smoke and sulfur (plagues)
Power of the horses is in their mouths and tails
Four angels are released
Four angels and their armies kill men on earth: 200 million horsemen/army
2/3 of mankind is left on earth/don’t repent
Seals and trumpets originate in heaven, but occur on earth
God protects His servants on earth (vs. 20)

12. Revelation 10
** ¼ of mankind is killed at the 4th seal, then 1/3 of the remaining (another ¼) are killed. So, after the 6th trumpet, ½ of men on earth, at the 4th seal, are dead: ½ are alive.
Peals of thunder speak, but John is not permitted to record what they say
10:7 “In the days of the 7th trumpet, the mystery of God is finished.”
John is told to eat the little book: this book may contain more prophecy about the nations

13. Revelation 11
Vs John told to measure the temple and count the worshipers
John told NOT to measure the outer court
The nations will tread under foot the outer court for 42 months/3 ½ years/1,260 days
Authority given to God’s 2 witnesses who prophesy for 42 months/3 ½ years/1,260 days
They will torment those who dwell on the earth

14. Revelation 11
When their testimony is complete, the beast kills them and their bodies lay in the street for 3 ½ days, not being permitted to be buried
They are then resurrected and taken to heaven as all on earth watch
Great earthquake, 1/10 of the city falls, 7,000 people are killed: rest are terrified and give glory to God of heaven.
2nd Woe – 6th trumpet – is past (vs. 14)

15. Revelation 11 Vs. 15-19 7th Trumpet – 3rd Woe
Kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of God and His Christ.
Nations are enraged
God’s wrath comes
Time for the dead to be judged and saints to be rewarded has come (20:11-15 GWT judgment)
Time to destroy those who destroy the earth
1st Woe – 5th Trumpet
2nd Woe – 6th Trumpet
3rd Woe – 7th Trumpet
