2 Oct 2008PC We have only 1 hour today May need to be brief

2 Oct 2008PC Analysis PC Schedule 2008 Tuesdays alternate weeks 26 August  4 September – ‘Analysis workshop’, RAL CR08  9 September  23 September  7 October Clash with Oxford annual Project Review 2 day event  Thursday 2 October Notes (1) CM22 at RAL 19 –21 October (2) JHC away 8 – 26 October -- Agenda for Analysis at CM follows (Next phone meeting in natural sequence would be 21 October) 4 November

2 Oct 2008PC Agenda for Analysis Meeting 2 Oct 15:30 GMT Meeting schedule - John C. G4MICE — ICOOL comparison - Chris R. Step III with G4MICE/ICOOL comparison - Mark R. Emittance measurements with TOFs - Mark R. Spectrometer alignment - David F. Spectrometer field mapping - Terry H. and/or students Effect of shield walls on MICE - John C. Effect of error fields on performance (ICOOL) - Ulisse B. Effect of error fields on performance (G4MICE) - Chris R. Beamline status - Marco A. AoB Apologies from DF

2 Oct 2008PC Some priorities 1) Effect of shield-induced error fields on performance of MICE  UB, CR & JC (with JHR) to look at this with both ICOOL & G4MICE Not real show stopper (CR, last meeting) but Details at 1% level need understanding Needs ICOOL check (UB doing this) Fine grid (error) fields available Problem in “No-Shield Wall” map Some problem with matching beta-functions to be resolved 2) Analysis of MICE beamline & beam, i.e. characterisation using what we have, esp. TOFs  Momentum measurement, emittance measurement & PID  Mark, Marco (& Chris) to work together to (at least) understand models of Qu’poles in G4MICE etc. and develop Mark’s emittance measurement with TOFs Would like to introduce beam as a topic for these meetings (but not details like magnet PSUs!); possibly no other forum exists?? 3) STEP I (tracker + NO solenoid) needs some study.  What can be learnt?  Optimum beam?

2 Oct 2008PC CM22 19 – 21 RAL – Agenda Analysis sessions at CM22 Sun 19 Oct 13: :30 "Beamline & Step 1" May not happen, really beamline ? Tue 21 Oct 11: :45 "Step 1 Results & Analysis" Presumably Analysis in general; 105 minutes AGENDA Progress since CM21 in June: MR - Emittance measurements with TOFs 10min + 5 DF - Spectrometer alignment & Statistics 10min + 5 TH - Spectrometer field mapping 10min + 5 New results/issues: CR pp JC - Effect of shield walls on MICE fields - overview 5min + 5 CR - Effect of error fields on performance (G4MICE) 10min + 5 UB - Effect of error fields on performance (ICOOL) 10min + 5 CR - G4MICE -- ICOOL comparison 10min + 5 What have I forgotten?? Need volunteer to coordinate in my absence (& give a talk for me) *Must make room for any beamline stuff if requested
