The Purpose of the Network The network is our method of communicating and researching; take advantage of that. Access to the network is a privilege, not a right.

The Purpose of the Network What you can do! Communicate – Outlook Conduct research – Library resources – Internet resources Produce work – Microsoft Office Suite What you cannot do! Circumvent network security (using proxies or anonymizers) Delete system files Use DOS—or any editing tool— to change file structures Download or store music Play games Send chain letters or mass s Do not save.mpg,.mpeg,.avi,.msf,.mov,.mp3,.exe,.zip files Violations of network rules may result in a loss of privileges as well as other disciplinary or legal action!

Network Ethics Network Ethics means you will not… gain access to accounts, folders, documents, or files other than your own use others’ passwords pretend to be someone other than yourself on the network Violations of network rules may result in a loss of privileges as well as other disciplinary or legal action!

Network Privacy The content of your account and your network activity are not private! – Your files are reviewed to maintain system integrity – All account activity, including blocked web searches, is stored on our servers

Network Privacy Do not give out your password to anyone (sharing your password is as bad as gaining access to someone else's account) To maintain your own privacy keep a strong cryptic password – Try something that combines letters, numbers, and symbols. – Sentences work great too!
