Vol. 1 Yr. 2 See what’s happening at Lacey’s Spring School with … August 2012 The Lacey’s Spring PTO is back again with the Eagle Eye Newsletter, and would like to welcome new and returning families for the school year. The PTO offers families an opportunity to learn what’s happening at school, share ideas and make a difference in their child’s educational experience. The PTO will meet on the 2 nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30. We encourage you to become involved in all of the activities planned for this year. You’ll have fun being together with other parents & friends, and the students will have meaningful experiences as a result of your involvement. We look forward to seeing you this year! ---LS PTO Officers This picture was taken on the first annual “Chase the Cure” walk to battle brain cancer. Our friend Chase Cross lost the battle against this dreaded disease this past April. However, he will NEVER be forgotten, and the battle will continue to rage on until the final victory has been won. Thank you to all the teachers and students who participated in this great event towards a great cause. I think Chase would be pleased. “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” ~Plutarch – Greek Historian Welcome from the PTO President, Steve Carlton Hello, I hope that you have had a wonderful summer. I would like to welcome everyone back for another AWESOME school year. Some things have changed with the PTO since our last Eagle Eye edition. We closed the year strong with our fundraising and met our goal of meeting our budget! Thank you for your support. Without you, this would not be possible. We have a personnel announcement regarding the PTO officers. Ms. Nikki Lowery, our treasurer, did a wonderful job this past year, but decided that one term was all she could serve due to time constraints. We are thankful for Nikki’s time and effort she dedicated to the PTO this year. In her place, Lisa Gilmore, our Secretary has offered to fill this void. We are thankful for her willingness to serve. In her stead, I would like to introduce Mrs. Lisa Smith, who will serve as our Secretary for this school year and excited about her willingness to serve. Many thanks to all of you. We are excited about the upcoming year as we have some exciting plans for you. To begin with, we will have a small fundraiser by offering the magic of Dr. Osborn on Friday August 31 st in the gym. We will have PTO Open House on September 11 th at 6:30 where you can come and see all of the hard work accomplished by the children. We have plans for a Fall candy bar sell in September and then we have the Fall Festival scheduled for October 18 th. Exciting stuff for sure!!! But that is not all. We will also have our Alabama vs. Auburn Penny Drop in November. It is never too early to look towards the Iron Bowl (War Eagle!!!).. We are continuing the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) newsletter to promote communication for everyone. It will contain interesting articles, pictures and quotes from the students and faculty. Each month a different grade will be highlighted. We hope you collect them all. The PTO officers are here to serve, and if there is anything that any of us can do, please let us know. These are just a few of the many exciting things the PTO is planning for this school year. We hope that you would come and join us in these efforts. Have a great day! 2012 Upcoming Events *Dr. Osborn Magic Show Aug 31 st at 1:00 *Candy Bar Kickoff Sept 10 th at 8:00 *PTO Meeting/Open House Sept 11 th at 6:30 *Fall Festival Oct 18 th at 5:00 PTO Officers and s Steve Carlton, President: Lisa Gilmore, Treasurer: Amanda Carlton, Vice President: Lisa Smith, Secretary:
