SFIP: Structure, Function & Information Processing Essential Question: How are living things alike?

Objectives Students will be able to: - Identify what they already know about how living things are alike. - Make predictions about what they will learn in this unit. Big Question: How are living things alike?

Agenda – Today Students Will: Evaluate their prior knowledge of how living things are alike by taking a clicker pretest Engage their thinking about their new unit by watching a photostory on the how living things are alike completing the K and W sections of their KWL Predict the answer to the Big Question Explore what we are learning by reading this unit’s outline Big Question: How are living things alike?

Pretest You are not expected to know all of the answers on the pretest. Answer as many questions as you can, and do your best! Big Question: How are living things alike?

KWL Before we watch the photostory, complete the left side of your circle map (What you already know) As we watch the photostory, complete the right side of your circle map (What you wonder) At the end of the unit, you will answer what you have learned and how it applies to your life.
