3 Who we are… >The Manufacturing Advisory Service in the West Midlands (MAS-WM) is dedicated to “Making a Difference in Manufacturing” in the region >One of nine regional centres administered by BIS and funded by Advantage West Midlands (AWM), MAS-WM aims to address the practical needs of manufacturers by delivering hands-on advice and business support through Specialist Manufacturing Advisors and a network of expert providers, including HEIs and RTOs >MAS-WM can assist with any aspect of manufacturing including: productivity improvements, new and enhanced product development and operational efficiency.

What is manufacturing? >There is a strong distinction between production (the physical act of making) and manufacturing (the overarching process of turning raw material into goods and their associated services 4
