Types of Sentences

There are four different types of sentences. 1. Statements 2. Questions 3. Commands 4. Exclamations

Every type of sentence begins with a capital letter.

A statement is a sentence that tells something. It ends with a period. I lost a tooth.

A question is a a sentence that asks something. It ends with a question mark. What time is lunch?

A command tells someone to do something. It ends with a period. Brush your teeth.

An exclamation shows strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation mark. That was a scary movie!

Let’s see if you remember the four types. Can you name the type of sentence?

Did you go swimming? Question

Tie your shoe. Command

Mrs. Clark is our principal. Statement

I hurt my foot! Exclamation

Shut the door. Command

I won the ballgame. Statement

Where are your books? Question
