Urinary (Excretory) System 2.3 The urinary system removes waste materials.

Life processes produce waste. The urinary system gets rid of liquid waste from the blood. The respiratory system gets rid of water vapor and waste gases from the blood. The digestive system disposes of solid waste products from food. The skin gets rid of wastes through sweat.

The skin releases wastes through sweat glands. The urinary system disposes of liquid waste products removed from the blood. that carry waste from the The ureters are tubes that carry waste from the kidneys to the bladder.

The urinary system removes waste from the blood. The urinary system filters the blood. The urinary system contains several structures. The kidneys are the body’s filters. The ureters move waste from the kidneys to the bladder. The bladder stores urine. The urethra is the passage from the bladder out of the body.

The kidneys, which are about 10 centimeters long, act as filters for the blood. Inside each kidney there are about one million nephrons. First, the blood enters through the glomerulus. Second, nutrients and water are filtered out. Third, waste products travel to the end of the nephron and are moved to the ureters.

The kidneys regulate the amount of water in the body. Too much water causes the body to swell. Too little water interferes with cell processes.
