Changing the Chemistry of Clean Combining science and sustainability for a new generation of solvents Approved for external use Southern Aerosol Association Conference September 25-26, Hilton Head, SC

Who we are  A global specialty chemical company headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee  Approximately 15,000 employees, 50 manufacturing sites and combined 2014 sales revenue of $9.5B  A company dedicated to economic growth, environmental stewardship and social responsibility 2

Traditional aerosol cleaners  Benefits Hermetically sealed – no spillage or evaporation, tamper resistant Delivery system allows better control of product being applied  The right amount in the right form at the right spot Ease of use – preferred by consumers and end users

The role of solvents in aerosol cleaners  Hold the formulation together  Couple active ingredients into solution with the propellant  Help produce a spray with the appropriate particle size  Improve the performance and safety profile of the cleaner A new generation of sustainable solvents are changing the game…….

Solvent selection considerations  Solvent type Hydrocarbon or oxygenated  Health, safety and environmental issues  Performance Type of soil to be removed  Hanson solubility parameters  “Like dissolves like” Substrate to be cleaned Physical properties  Surface tension, boiling point, evaporation rate, etc.  Customer preferences or limitations

What if a solvent could…. 6  Help provide high performance cleaners without concern for health, safety, and toxicity? GHS labeling benefits CleanGredients®, EPA SCIL approved listings CARB and EPA LVP exemption  Help you formulate highly effective cleaners for a broad range of soils at a lower overall cost than you do today?  Help your customers experience real, tangible benefits from using these cleaning products? Faster cleaning times More noticeable “clean”; more satisfied, repeat customers More worker satisfaction; less worker turnover (I&I) Safer environment during cleaning  “Finally prove that “green” really can clean as well – or better than - alkaline and acidic formulations? Would that change the way you think about solvents?

Eastman Omnia™ high performance solvent Meeting the cleaning product needs of tomorrow Safe Effective Environmentally responsible Regulatory compliance Economical Acute oral LD 50 > 5000 mg/kg Aquatic LC 50 > 100 mg/L Non-mutagenic No effect on estrogen receptor signaling Removes wide spectrum of soils Grease, tar, soap scum, inks “Green” that actually cleans Easily formulated as RTU or concentrate Readily biodegradable Effective in neutral pH formulations Listed on CleanGredient™ with no restrictions Listed on EPA’s Safer Choice SCIL with full green circle More efficient at removing soils than comparable solvents Effective at low % use levels REACH compliant; listed on EPA’s TSCA; Canadian NDSL Meets CARB and U.S. EPA criteria for classification as an LVP-VOC in consumer products Meets EPA criteria for direct release 7

10 Relative cleaning performance of Omnia™ Greasy soil on an aluminum Q-panel

Formulating with Omnia Ability to grab and hold soils 11  The higher the dilution ratio, the better the solvent is at holding soils in solution  Omnia can maintain a higher loading of organic polymer and oily hydrocarbon suspended in water better than most other commonly used solvents Dilution ratio is the volume of solvent that can be added to hydrocarbon solvent before the nitrocellulose polymer precipitates (ASTM test)

Formulating with Omnia Lower surface tension equals more efficient cleaning 12  Low amounts of Omnia have been shown to dramatically lower the surface tension of water  Lower surface tension = better wetting of soils, surfaces for more efficient cleaning  May be able to formulate with less expensive surfactants while maintaining or improving cleaning efficiency

Commercial applications powered by Omnia  Degreasers  All purpose cleaners  Bathroom cleaners  Carpet cleaners  Marine cleaners  Hand cleaners  Cleaning wipes  Parts cleaners  Electronics cleaners  Adhesive removers  Ink cleaners  Heavy duty degreasers  Oven & grill cleaners  Hydraulic fluid cleaners  Concrete cleaners Household & InstitutionalIndustrial

Eastman Omnia high performance solvent A perfect combination of performance, safety and value 14  Delivers strong cleaning performance without harm to users, the environment, or the surfaces to be cleaned  Enables 50 state VOC compliant cleaning formulations without sacrificing strength LVP-VOC per CARB and EPA requirements  Formulations can be optimized to enable high cleaning efficiency and cost effectiveness Lower % use levels of Omnia versus many common solvents Lower surfactant levels needed to decrease surface tension Strong compatibility with other solvents to further boost performance as needed

Thank you! Eastman Omnia™ high-performance solvent Changing the chemistry of clean Approved for external use 15
