Presentation transcript:

Create foldable for cycles of matter Fold 2 pieces of paper “hamburger” style and a little off center Example below – Yours will have “water” instead of phosphorous cycle.

Directions for Cycling of Matter in Ecosystem Flip up Cycling of Matter in Ecosystem cover flap and draw the Carbon Cycle under top flap. Flip up the Carbon Cycle and draw the Water Cycle under second top flap. Flip up Water Cycle and draw the Nitrogen cycle under the 3rd flap. Using the textbook, internet, or notes answer the following questions opposite the correct picture. You do not have to write the question, but you should include it in your answer. **BE SURE TO LABEL YOUR DRAWINGS **

answer the following Carbon Cycle Why is carbon important to the Environment? Where does the carbon come from in an ecosystem? How have humans “intruded on the carbon cycle? How does carbon get released into the atmosphere?

answer the following nitrogen cycle Why is nitrogen important to in the environment? How is nitrogen similar to the carbon cycle? Where does nitrogen come from in an ecosystem? What is nitrogen fixation and how does it benefit an ecosystem? What is denitrification and how does it benefit an ecosystem? How have humans “intruded” on the nitrogen cycle?

Answer the following Water Cycle Why is water important to the environment? How does water move through the environment? What is transpiration? How could you conserve more water during your day?

Rubric for cycles of matter Setup of foldable = 5 pts Pictures (accuracy and lables) = 10 pts Carbon Cycle = 5 pts Water Cycle = 5 pts Nitrogen Cycle = 5 pts Total Points: 30 points
