1 Biogeochemical Cycle

2 FRAME 4 Box

3 The movement (or cycling) of matter through a system.
Natural processes that recycle nutrients in various chemical forms from the environment, to organisms, and then back to the environment Or to simplify it.... The movement (or cycling) of matter through a system.

4 Those 4 systems on Earth are: 1. Atmosphere (air)
2. Hydrosphere (water) 3. Lithosphere (land) 4. Distribution (biosphere)

5 Put 2 of these into 3 different boxes
Atmosphere Matter represents all material that has mass, this includes mass within the air. These are: carbon hydrogen oxygen nitrogen phosphorous sulfur Put 2 of these into 3 different boxes

6 Atmosphere, cont. The atmosphere helps maintain Oxygen for us to breathe and Carbon Dioxide for plants to breathe. Continuous Cycle

7 Hydrosphere Water REQUIRED for all organic life on Earth
Required to assist in Erosion process Ocean's are the recycling zones of the world with coral reefs Water Cycle, continuous for survival

8

9 Lithosphere 2 types: Oceanic & Continental
Solid, crusty rock that covers the entire Earth's surface Covers everything from Mt. Everest to the Mariana Trench!

10 Distribution (Biosphere)
The biosphere is composed of all living organisms. Plants, animals, and one-celled organisms are all part of the biosphere. Life has been discovered in ALL areas of the biosphere, including extreme conditions such as volcanoes, the Arctic and deep ocean water. The Biosphere is an equal balance of all 3 spheres acting together to maintain order.

11 3. Label each part as such:
Activity: 1. Fold paper into 4's 2. Draw a circle through the middle of the paper, connecting each of the 4 squares 3. Label each part as such: Atmosphere Lithosphere Hydrosphere Distribution (Biosphere)

12 Activity, cont. Draw a circle connecting the middle of the boxes.
1 person researches the first box “atmosphere” and tells their partner who fills it in. Then you switch. The circle represents the connection between the biogeochemical cycle. Use your textbook & the information pack to fill in 3 additional pieces of information.
