Shadowing- allows the opportunity for staff see the care experience ‘through the patients and carers or families eyes’ Patient and family shadowing provides: Real time patient feedback information and data, which is easy and convenient to collect. A ‘map’ of the care process to evaluate patient flow Observation of the quality of the interactions that take place with the patient and or family member with care givers. Staff the opportunity to develop insight, understanding and empathy with the patients and families in the hospital environment. A means to understand a care episode to drive change and improvement or to assess impact of improvement work (urgency)
