The town is located in the Kuznetsk Basin, 115 km north of Kemerovo.

Some facts from the history of Our town.

 Anzhero-Sudzhensk was founded in 1897 in connection with the construction of railway line and the beginning of coal mining in Anzherskaya and Sudzhensk Mines (mining village Anzherka and Sudzhenka), which in the late 19 - early 20 centuries produced over 98% of the coal of Kuzbass.

In 1928 two settlements were united into one – Anzhero-Sudzhensky. In 1931 it got the status of a town.
