Immersion Education in Wales

Immersion Introducing a curriculum through a second language to learners sharing the same first language ESTYN 2005

Features of Immersion Education in settings/schools The second language is the main medium of communication. The immersion curriculum is exactly the same as the main curriculum. The setting/school supports the continuous development of the first language. Additional bilingualism occurs. Children mostly hear the second language in the classroom. Children come to setting/school with similar level of competency in the second language ( very little or none) Every practitioner is bilingual.
