What is Alternative Energy? An alternative energy resource is a resource which replaces the current fuel which is in use.

How wind turbines work? A wind turbine is a mechanical device which uses kinetic energy to create electricity. The turbine has 3 huge blades which turns gears to create kinetic energy which is stored and harvested. This is used to power cities. See diagram for more info.

Advantages It’s free to produce No green house gasses The wind never runs out so it is renewable Wind power does not harm the environment

Disadvantages Expensive to set up If the area has no wind, it produces no energy

Wind Power is better! Wind power is better than fossil fuels because it produces no pollution and will not run out.

Conclusion We conclude that wind power is the best alternative energy for Northern Ireland because Northern Ireland is very windy.
