Current situation of Egyptian CHM 1.Current situation a. Institutional Structure Governmental body ; The CHM supervised by Biodiversity Division, Nature Conservation Sector NCS, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), b. Current available capacity to develop and national CHM Little capacities, one or two IT specialists with low IT resources under a weak organizational structure c. Information services that national CHM provides The CHM contains four sections, -1 St gives a brief account on the CBD and subsidiary protocols; -2 nd contains the documents and reports of the researches related to biodiversity monitoring and conservation; -3 rd contains all the details concerning the progress of implementation of the plans related to CBD, and; - 4 th section speaks about the NCS and how to contact NCS staff d. Main challenges -Miss coordination with different stockholders related to biodiversity. - Lack of Awareness and understanding the CHM. -Lack of trust between stakeholders.

2- Strategic vision a.The major issues that we are facing, and how we think to be resolved? 1- The limited resources to overcome; upgrade organizational structure, new staff recruitments, resource mobilization plans and fundraising. 2- The weak participation (inputs) of the various stakeholders To overcome; Mainstreaming of biodiversity values in the developmental sectors, plans for cooperation between stakeholders, CHM focal points within the various stakeholders. 3- sustainability of CHM and capacity building. b. How could our national CHM be developed in order to more effectively support the implementation of your NBSAP? Develop new sections in the CHM to support the cooperation between the various stakeholders, the major stakeholders should have certain degree of access to the website to upload their efforts and progress towards achieving the NBSAP goals and targets. Another section to give brief account on the national action plans and a periodically updated account on the progress and achievements c. How is the future of your national CHM being considered in the process of revising your NBSAP? The current NBSAP is already revised and the new one is being prepared. The new one will contain an evaluation and monitoring plan. This plan could be uploaded to the CHM website with means of measuring the progress of implementation of the national action plans. The site might also contain a section on the difficulties of implementation thus helping in the continuous revising process

3- Cooperation and support a.What kind of (national, regional or international) support would be most beneficial to develop Egypt national CHM? A donor to fund a project to upgrade the current CHM and to provide the necessary hardware and software b. What kind of support your country could potentially provide to other countries with regards to the CHM? Probably, the development of NBSAPs and related actions
