What We Will Accomplish

“A major order culture change is taking place in the Reserve so that reservists know, upon joining, that they will be called up to active duty for between nine and twelve months every 4 to 5 years” - LTG James R. Helmly, Chief, Army Reserve A Call to Action

Responds to the needs of the military youth whose parents have been deployed in support of Overseas Contingency Operations Infrastructure developed by 50 OMK state teams that work to build the community capacity of local community support networks to provide services that support child and youth of Military Families OMK – The Concept

Delivered in local communities through collaboration with Military Partners, 4-H Programs, Boys & Girls Clubs, the Military Child Education Coalition, The American Legion, Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, and other community agencies serving youth at national, state, and local levels.

Partnerships and joint commitment at the federal, state, and local level are critical. Rapid response to the issues is necessary to effect change. Youth’s best interests are paramount. OMK outreach services must be replicable. OMK initiatives must be sustainable. OMK impact must be documented. Guiding Principles of Operation: Military Kids

Purpose of the Training Give participants an understanding and appreciation of unique stressors that Military Families may face during a deployment Provide tools and skills to engage local community OMK partners to support military children and youth
